Reading: Promoting Collaborative Learning
Instructions: In this week's readings Palloff and Pratt (2007) discuss the importance of discussing real life experiences as part of course activities and discussions. The focus of this week's module is collaborative learning. Some scholars would say that collaborative learning prepares students for the real-world collaborative work environment. Think back to your collaborative work experiences and those in an academic course. Answer the following questions:
- What are the similarities and differences?
- Do you believe that your collaborative academic experiences adequately prepared you for real-world work experiences? Why or why not?
Post your thoughts as a response to the this blog question by Friday.

I think your post is brief yet thorough. I often feel long-winded when creating instructions, so I can appreciate the substance of your brief post and rubric.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keisha. I was going to tie into the article, but decided against it for the purposes of the assignment, but I think that a longer question might garner more responses in the real-world application

I believe you have a very strong discussion question and rubric. This could certainly be a true course!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenny!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI agree. Your questions, chosen graphic, and your rubric are all in harmony to play a great lesson.
The questions you chose are great. I think a lot of people would reply: "NO!". People, a lot of people are stilled trained to work at the cell level, not thinking that they all are part of body...
Great work J.Wells!
Ruth
Thanks, Ruth. I wanted to tie the discussion into the life experiences of my learners. I like your biology analogy!
